My approach
Personalized
You are unique, so your lessons should be too! Each lesson is tailored to your specific learning needs and style.
Group classes will have a targeted focus, but will adapt within the focus to support each student.
Comprehensive
We cover all areas of reading, beginning with phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension.
In writing, we start at the sentence level and work on narrative, expository, and informational writing. We also cover grammar skills.
Adaptive
Lessons evolve as you do. We will spend as much (or as little) time as you need to learn the concepts.
We meet you on your learning path, so our time spent together is maximized.
Interactive
Reading is not about memorizing; it's about engaging with the language and learning rules and patterns.
We incorporate activities that utilize all the senses, which helps students retain their learning.

About me
My Story:
Nothing gives me greater joy than to watch a struggling student have the “light bulb” moment; the moment when what they have been working on clicks, and they understand. They are successful!
I have been a teacher for over 20 years. I have spent most of that time working with struggling learners. Being certified in Orton-Gillingham has allowed me the opportunity to deepen my own knowledge of how to help students who are struggling.
I love teaching and helping students find success! I would consider it the greatest honor to work with your student.

TESTIMONIALS
“Julie Murray has been a true game-changer for our son Davis. Since working with her, his reading and spelling skills have improved dramatically—his grades are up, and he’s truly understanding the rules of language. He looks forward to every session, has fun learning, and is more confident than ever. Julie’s expertise, patience, and creative approach have not only helped Davis thrive, but also given our family hope and a deeper understanding of how differently the brain can learn. We’re incredibly grateful—she’s been a breath of fresh air, and we don’t know where we’d be without her.”

“Thank you so very much for all your support over the last few months! We are so grateful you were able to meet with and help Annie AND us! I cannot express in words how helpful you have been helping her stay on track, finish assignments and finish them well. We’ve seen a remarkable difference. You are a lovely human being and connect so well with students!”
